1. Hire Local Contractors

Purchasing a pool is a major investment therefore, a trustworthy contractor is worth its weight in gold. When searching for a contractor, be sure to look at more than your typical Google reviews.

A helpful tip we give our clients is to not solely rely on reviews. Be sure to hire a pool contractor who has done work in your municipality, and even better - your own neighborhood. Start your search by asking your neighbors and friends who they have used, then proceed from there.

2. Pool Decking Design

There are two pool details that will catch the eye of anyone visiting your home - the color of your water (this can be a yikes….) and the style of your decking.

Making sure that the pool decking matches the style of the home is a key factor that will help keep the architectural integrity of the home. You are not going to want a mediterranean style pool with a modern house... Or maybe you do - but we may judge you… ;)

3. Pool Heater? What Type?

Did you know there are different types of pool heaters? (I know, who knew…) The two most popular are solar powered and heated by solar.

The main difference between the two options are that solar powered is exactly that - powered by solar, the panels absorb the sun and create electricity. Solar heated simply means that the water is heated directly from sunlight, there is no electricity used in this method. Typically this process is completed by coiling a black house and attaching it to the house(typically the roof) and you leave all the work to the sun. (Dad hack for the win?!)

4. Spa?

Do you want to add a spa to the pool? what type of jets

close to house? apart of the landscaping of the house?

5. Where To Put Your Pool Equipment

You want to keep your pool equipment in a discrete place, the more hidden the better! If you live in a col-de-sac you you don’t want it on the left side of the house, etc.

7. Type of Pool Pump/ Controlling

The better the pump, the better the pool. There are three kinds of pool pumps. Single Speed - only operates at one speed, Two Speed - operates at a high and low speed and Speed Variable - circulates hot water the fastest.

There are different ways to control your pool pump you can use a fixed panel, an app on your smartphone or by physically controlling from the pump.
